Microsoft has Rolled Out a Project Management Tool, called Planner

Microsoft always wants to help small business and entrepreneurs to collaborate, track and organize their plans easily. It has recently launched a new project management app called Planner that allows you to organize all your tasks, assign tasks, share files, collaborate and much more in one go. The new task management app is released as a part of the Office 365 suite, that functionality is more or less similar to other project management tools like Asana and Trello.

Though Microsoft hasn’t done anything specifically groundbreaking but still it used the most established concepts of a digital whiteboard combined with note cards that will help you to track projects, communicate projects, and attach files. Moreover, the Planner also integrates with different other Microsoft products such as Outlook, OneNote and more.

Microsoft Planner is the perfect choice for startups who are not familiar with apps they have never heard of. It is appealing to many customers, even it has convinced the local government of Portugal to shift their entire workflow pattern over Planner. Microsoft is likely the organization can appeal to their traditional customers who are acquainted with Office products and are unwilling to use any software made for Silicon Valley.

Although, online project management apps are critical to any business’s success and to run their operations smoothly. Almost every organization ranging from local government to large corporations, relies on these types of online task management software to get their operations done. However, there are some companies exist who manage their projects on Excel spreadsheets. So, Microsoft has a better position than most to get those traditional teams using its software over apps from the well-established competitors.

Alike Asana, Trello and Wrike, Microsoft Planner utilizes the feature of Board to keep tasks organized. Within each Board you will find individual cards that have due dates, file attachments, categories and conversations. You can attach images and documents to make collaboration easier. Moreover, you can organize cards into columns which is called Buckets in a color coded format and prioritize according to your workload. Another unique feature of this online task management app is Hub that allows you to track the overall progress of the plans, filter your tasks and assignments.

This new addition in Microsoft Office suite is an enterprise ready tool that helps many large organizations to fulfill their technical requirements including redundant backups, quick recovery and more.

This easy to use, productivity app will give teams more flexibility while improving collaboration and adding high levels of transparency. Moreover, Microsoft is planning to add some new features in the Planner to make it more usable. The Planner app for iOS, Android and Windows will launch soon.
